CHAMBER ORCHESTRA


This class is for more advanced students who want to make music in a community orchestra setting.

It is led by our advanced instructor, Jane Lee, and requires a 2 minute audition video.

Pre-Requisites:
Students in this class should be able to play in all keys, and in 1st through 6th position.

Students who have an easy time in the Tuesday (Early Intermediate) classes should apply for this class.

Class Times:
Class will be held every week on Thursday night from 7:30 - 8:30pm.

Every month we have a new focus. As this class works through more complicated repertoire, we do come back to pieces previously touched on. See Class Calendar for details.

Price:
You may sign up for a discounted membership, use your group class credits from other memberships, or pay for single classes, as with any other group class.

Audition:

An audition video is required for all students entering this class. Submit a link to your 2-minute audition video on YouTube or Vimeo through the form below.

Videos must include both:

1.   A three octave scale (15-20 seconds)
2.  A 1-2
 minute excerpt of a solo piece of your choosing, at tempo.
    - Any Bach Sonata or Partita.
    - Bach Double Violin Concerto, either part.
    - Vivaldi's Concerto in A minor, including m. 21-35 and/or m. 60-80.
    - Any piece from Suzuki Book 4.
    - Any of the following from Suzuki Book 3:
         #2 Minuet II, Bach
         #4 Humoresque, Dvorak
         #6 Gavotte II, Bach

         #7 Bouree, Bach
    - Or material of a similar level
    - Previous Class Material:
      Hungarian Dance No. 1, 5
      Vivaldi's Summer
      Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings
                   

Please submit your video at least 5 days in advance of your first class.

As this class is continually ongoing and free of semester and season dates, you may choose any of the following options to enroll once approved for the class.

Note: if you are a lower string player (viola, cello, bass) and you need financial aid to join this class, apply for the Lower Strings Scholarship here.
